If information was entered onto a form and was saved, then it disappeared, this would have been caused by caching through the internet browser.
Here are a few reasons caching occurs:
1. If you are on a wireless connection and lose your connection
2. If you use the back button in your internet browser while in SEIS.
3. If you have multiple SEIS tabs open in the same browser. If you do have multiple SEIS tabs open in your internet browser, you may overwrite your data.
Information about caching
Most browsers use a storage place on your computer called a cache to stash copies of pages you have visited. Then, when you want to go back to the page, the browser pulls the page from the cache rather than getting the actual page from the live website.
This is meant to speed your internet experience, however, it can create issues Sometimes the cache will hold an old copy of a page, or even an error message. For example, if you got an error because you needed to download Adobe Reader, and then you downloaded it, when you go back to the page the browser may pull the error message from its cache rather than going and getting the page.
It is recommended to clear your cache often. Here are the steps to clear the cache from your browser:
Firefox
Click on the History Menu button at the top (if the menu bar is hidden, press ALT to make it visible.)
Click on Clear Recent History
From the Time range to clear drop down menu, select Everything
Select Browsing & Download History, Cookies and Cache
Click the Clear Now button
Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser
Google Chrome
Click the Tools icon (three dots) in the upper right hand corner
Click on More Tools
Click on Clear Browsing Data
Make sure that All time is selected and check the boxes for Cookies and Cached images
Click Clear Data
Safari
Click Safari in the upper left hand side of your screen. In the menu that appears, click Preferences.
In the window that appears, click the Privacy tab. Click the button Remove All Website Data.
Click Remove Now in the pop up window that appears.
